It is no secret that few users bother to create an elaborate password.

The explanation is simple, one has lots of accounts, several email addresses (for essential business, for spam etc.). Why bother to create each time new passwords and keep them in mind. If there is a necessity to log on whenever and wherever you are and you just don't remember the needed password because it is written somewhere in your organizer but you don't have it so what you are going to do then.

As a matter of fact, you don't need remember all your passwords. Everything has already been done for the benefit of the dearest client. There are programs – password managers, more than that you can invent some methods of passwords formation for each site you use. Here is some general information on this subject.

We all human beings so all of us have something similar in behavior, in the way of thinking. Creating a new password we have similar clues, we follow similar leads. Here is a typical scheme of password generating.

First thing that comes to most users' minds is to use our pets' names, car model or the word “password”. Surely, you are the only person who has red Ford 2008, a dog called Foxy and a password Password.
The combination of the numbers like – 12345,246810,654321 etc.
The psychological factor: use of the obscene words or sex vocabulary (we won't make any examples). By the way men usually do this. Nothing personal just bare statistics.
Your favorite movie or a book title, the name of the country or color – a frequent phenomenon. (Here, the main thing is to follow the top movies, actors, political issues etc. In 2015 we are waiting for password like Star Wars and its derivatives).

Due to the statistics women suffer from hacking more often than men. Women tend to use vocabulary words (see p.1) what makes them more vulnerable.

Look through the list of frequently used passwords. Make sure your password doesn't match any of them. If not and you aware of the danger then fix it and make it safe.

At some point I will make this full data set publicly available but in the meantime, I have decided to release the following list of the top 10,000 most common passwords. This list is ranked by counting how many different usernames appear on my list with the same password. Note that for this list, I do not take capitalization into consideration when matching passwords so this list has been converted to all lowercase letters.

While many people have improved the security and strength of their passwords, there are still a huge number of people who pick from a very small list of common passwords. In fact, 91% of all user passwords sampled all appear on the list of just the top 1,000 passwords (c) Xato. Check your password.
